Openwave Technology Partner - Juniper Networks
Juniper Networks and Openwave Systems have partnered to introduce the Juniper Mobile Video Optimization Solution (JMVO). This solution integrates two key mobile network functions -- Openwave’s Media Optimizer and Juniper's Service Delivery Gateway (SDG).
The integrated solution detects mobile network congestion and dynamically triggers optimization where and when it is needed. For subscribers, this means smooth downloads and playback on smartphones, feature phones, netbooks and laptops with a better overall quality viewing experience.
The key advantages of the Openwave-Juniper solution are:
- Intelligent Traffic Steering: The unique traffic steering capability built into the Juniper SDG (based on the MX 3D Universal Edge Router) acts as a traffic director in the mobile core network.
- Enhanced User Experience: The context-aware capabilities of JMVO enables different levels of optimization for different video flows based on network conditions, device capabilities and operator policies.
- Reduced Network Costs: The JMVO solution reduces cost of deployments up to 36% while eliminating interoperability risks.
- Smooth Migration Towards 4G: The Juniper Mobile Video Optimization solution can be integrated into MobileNext, the industry's first open mobile core with a programmable platform for service innovation.
- Reduced Network Disruptions: The JMVO solution reacts quickly to video format changes by getting updates via the cloud. This minimizes the risk of major network disruptions while allowing the operators maintain the end user experience.
The Partnership
The combination of Openwave’s legacy in mobile services infrastructure and Juniper’s strength in IP networking infrastructure promise to usher in the next generation, high-performance services platform for mobile networks. The partnership begins with a solution for mobile networks’ most pressing problem: video traffic management. Together, the two companies offer an intelligent and cost-effective way to proactively manage congestion hotspots in order to provide an optimum video experience to the end users.
