Openwave's global customer base consists of over 70 of the largest mobile operators and over 25 large broadband service providers. Mobile customers include: Bell Mobility, KDDI, NTT DoCoMo, Orange, Softbank Mobile, Sprint, Taiwan Mobile, Telefónica Moviles, Telus, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, Virgin Mobile, VIVO and Vodafone. Broadband service provider customers include: Bell Aliant, Comcast, Cox Communications, Deutsche Telekom, Telstra, Time Warner Cable and Virgin Media.

One hundred million subscribers use Openwave software to access the mobile internet. Over 118 million mailboxes are run on the Openwave Email Mx platform.

Strategic Partnerships
 
Openwave partners with over one hundred companies to expand its reach and capabilities. Hardware partnerships include SUN Microsystems, IBM and storage company EMC. Software partnerships include Cloudmark, Commtouch (anti-spam), McAfee (anti-virus) and GBSD Technologies (location).

In addition to delivering tailored solutions directly to our customers, Openwave is collaborating with Alcatel Lucent to bring our innovative, service-enabling technologies into emerging markets and to new customers.

Openwave's product portfolio consists of mobile internet service management (including analytics), messaging and location product lines:
  • Analytics - Intelligently monitor, measure and monetize traffic on and off the mobile network. Get a clear, real-time picture of subscriber activity to stay ahead of traffic spikes. Industry-leading targeting technologies help operators leverage their unique subscriber and network assets to capture revenue through segmented services and personalized promotions.

  • Mobile Internet Services - A set of "smart services" run through a single open mobile internet access platform that collectively brings a superior internet experience to existing mass-market devices, from feature phones to smart phones

  • Messaging - Converged, IP-based multimedia messaging (email, text, voice, video) applications and infrastructure to provide solutions that adapt to subscribers' preferences, capabilities and location

  • Location-based Services - High accuracy, standards-based location infrastructure. Openwave's products are based on open standards and designed for convergence - they have the capability to work across a diverse range of mobile phones and technologies, regardless of the brand of handset or type of service that operators offer their subscribers.
Openwave Heritage
 
Openwave was formed in August 2000 when wireless Internet pioneer Phone.com merged with messaging software provider Software.com. This union signaled a larger trend taking shape in the industry - the convergence of broadband and mobile communications and the intersection of traditional telecommunications and the Internet.
