REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - January 3, 2001 -- Openwave Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:OPWV), the combination of Phone.com and Software.com, today announced CTI Movil Argentina's launch of mobile Internet services branded "CTI Movil @migo," using the Openwave UP.Link Server. CTI Movil's subscribers can use their Internet-enabled mobile phones to access a broad range of Internet content, including email, news and personal management services. The launch of its mobile Internet services comes only a couple of months after the license agreement was signed between Openwave and CTI Movil in October 2000.
CTI Movil is rolling out its services over a cellular network that covers the largest geographic region in Latin America, encompassing more than 1300 cities in Argentina. CTI Movil's partnerships with various content providers will offer a broad range of innovative services to its growing base of subscribers. Cuidad Internet will offer news and games, Map Red will provide driving directions, and Despegar.com will offer flight, hotel and air reservations.
"Mi @migo," CTI Movil's personalization service, equips subscribers with customized and immediate information that is unique to their needs. CTI Movil is also the first wireless network operator in Argentina to offer the "push" feature, alerting subscribers of time-sensitive information, such as email and soccer score notifications.
"As the popularity of the mobile Internet increases, Openwave's innovative carrier-class products will help operators such as CTI Movil deliver new and differentiated services to their customers," said Mike Mulica, senior vice president of Worldwide Sales, Consulting and Support for Openwave. "We're proud to work together with CTI Movil to make leading-edge technology available to more wireless subscribers."
