(Nasdaq: OPWV), the leading provider of open software products and services for the communications industry, today announced that Telefónica Móviles España, one of the world's leading mobile telecommunications companies, has selected a mobile email service based on Openwave's IP-based Adaptive Messaging platform. With the new messaging service, Telefónica subscribers can receive real-time advanced email alerts from multiple existing email accounts, and fully manage their mailboxes from any mobile phone.

According to Alfonso Perea, Director for Messaging Services at Telefónica Móviles España, the next generation of messaging services holds tremendous potential, both from a revenue and innovation perspective. By selecting Openwave's adaptive messaging solution to implement its mobile email service, Telefónica Móviles benefits from a solution that uses the native client with no additional downloads required.
