  OPENWAVE CHAIRMAN OF BOARD BERNARD PUCKETT RETIRES; PRESIDENT AND CEO ROBERT VRIJ TO SERVE AS CHAIRMAN ON INTERIM BASIS
  

  REDWOOD CITY, CA - September 19, 2007 -- Openwave Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: OPWV), one of the world?s leading software innovators enabling revenue-generating personalized services which converge the mobile and broadband experience, today announced that Bernard Puckett retired from his role as Chairman of the Board and as a Board member, effective September 17,2007. Openwave President and CEO Robert Vrij, who is currently on the Board, will serve as Interim Chairman until a non-executive Chairman is appointed.
