  OPENWAVE CEO ROBERT VRIJ ELECTED TO CTIA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
  

  Vrij's Expertise and Insight Help Shape Telecommunications Industry Agenda
 
REDWOOD CITY, CA - October 25, 2007 -- Openwave Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: OPWV), one of the world's leading software innovators enabling revenue-generating personalized services which converge the mobile and broadband experience, today announced today that its President, CEO and interim Chairman Robert Vrij, has been elected to the CTIA (Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association) board of directors for a second term. Since March 2007, Mr. Vrij has played a vital role in helping set CTIA's strategic leadership direction on several key issues and initiatives. The Board announcement was made at the Annual Meeting of CTIA Members in San Francisco.
