  OPENWAVE ANNOUNCES NEW PERSONALIZED DASHBOARD

  Latest Version of Openwave's Rich Mail Solution Designed for Mobile and Broadband Operators Offering Users a Centralized Communications Hub

BARCELONA, SPAIN, Mobile World Congress - February 11, 2008 -- Openwave Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: OPWV), one of the world's leading software innovators enabling revenue-generating personalized services which converge the mobile and broadband experience, today announced Openwave® Rich Mail 3.0, a new solution designed for carrier-scale deployment by broadband and mobile operators around the world. An extension of Openwave's successful AJAX-based Rich Mail offering, the Openwave Rich Mail 3.0 offering is designed to enable a converged messaging experience for consumers by offering a central point of access for all their communications needs, enabling new ways for mobile and broadband operators to personalize, brand and monetize their Web messaging offerings.

"With the vast array of communications media available - social networks, Internet and mini blogs, SMS, MMS, email and voicemail - it's a daunting task for users to manage and organize their content and communications without a single point of interface," said Alon Schwartzman, director of product management, Openwave. "Openwave's Rich Mail 3.0, which is a natural extension of our converged communications product suite, aims to solve this issue by creating a central repository for users to easily and conveniently communicate and socialize, access friends, organize and share content. At the same time it creates a new forum for mobile and broadband operators to deepen relationships with their customers and bring unique value to the user experience."

End-User Benefits
Openwave's Rich Mail 3.0 extends the functionality of its existing Rich Mail offering with new and enhanced features that effectively create a personalized homepage for users. Through flexible and customizable widgets, this innovative solution puts users in control of management and gives them quick access to their content and communications services. The solution also facilitates a consistent user experience to easily access various types of messages, conversations, multimedia content, event feeds and personal contacts.

Service Provider Benefits
The Rich Mail 3.0 personalized dashboard offers operators the branding and personalization benefits of a rich Web-based interface, coupled with enhanced functionality to help them differentiate their communications and messaging services. With Openwave's offering, operators can incorporate added functionality, including e-commerce, voice calling, and information services such as location, traffic and news through contextual hyperlinks within message text - allowing them to drive new revenue streams through their Web Messaging offerings.

"Users' experiences of mobile messaging increasingly encompass a variety of internet services," said John Delaney, principal analyst, Ovum. "To compete effectively in the internet domain, network service providers can exploit their strengths by offering converged mobile/broadband messaging services that are functionally rich, easy to use and fully interoperable. Pure-portal internet players will find it hard to match such offerings."

New and enhanced features of Openwave Rich Mail 3.0 include:
  • Customizable, rich widget-based look and feel;
  • PC-to-mobile communications;
  • Management of multimedia content through a single user interface;
  • Better organization of personal data through an improved user experience; and
  • Operator merchandising and advertisement opportunities.
