  OPENWAVE APPOINTS ALAN PARK AS SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF WORLDWIDE SALES
  

  REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - July 31, 2008 -- Openwave Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: OPWV), one of the world's leading software innovators enabling revenue-generating personalized services which converge the mobile and broadband experience, today announced the appointment of Alan Park as senior vice president, worldwide sales, effective August 4. Park brings more than 28 years of experience in sales, professional services and management experience at leading companies in the high technology and telecommunications industries. He replaces Hari Haran, who has decided to leave Openwave to pursue other opportunities. Park will report to Openwave's interim CEO, Bruce Coleman.

"Alan is a proven leader with a successful track record of managing direct and channel teams, and we are pleased to have him at Openwave," said Coleman. "Alan's expertise will be integral as we execute on our corporate strategy to expand our customer base and target tier two and tier three customers, while continuing to deliver high caliber customer service and new products to our tier one customer base. Prior to Openwave, Alan served as senior vice president and general manager, field services division, for Trimble Mobile Resources Management (formerly @Road, Inc.). Prior to @Road, Alan was president and CEO of Praxid, a provider of hosted business management applications. His other leadership roles include sales and executive management positions at IBM, Compaq, Digital and Sybase, where he sold integrated solutions to companies ranging from the Fortune 500 to small and mid-sized companies.
