  Widgets have gained the attention of subscribers and content providers in the PC environment. The challenge for the mobile industry is to leverage this momentum to drive adoption of their mobile data services.

  

  Openwave Mobile Widgets is a solution that enables compelling and highly relevant mobile widgets to be integrated directly into the idle screen of any device. Idle screen integration, combined with the real-time networked aspects of an AJAX-based mobile widget, compel subscribers to engage with data services and drive adoption.

Mobile Widgets can be pre-populated on a device, downloaded via subscriber pull or pushed by the operator. The simple nature of widget creation enables operators and their partners to quickly react to market trends and evaluate new widget-based services with minimal investment. The control is entirely in the hands of the operator.

Every part of the idle screen can accommodate downloadable widgets which are built using the Openwave Mobile AJAX Software Developer Kit (SDK). Openwave's Widgets Platform includes tools to create widgets and a framework for managing the download and running of widgets. The Openwave Mobile Widgets solution runs on Windows Mobile, Symbian, BREW, QTopia, Linux and any feature phone platform.
