  Openwave® Location Express for GSM/UMTS
  
 
  Location Express is an easy-to-deploy, location-based infrastructure appliance. It provides a full range of location-based services (LBS) on mass-market devices to meet the varied needs of operators in growing markets.

 

  Basic location services such as business look-up nearest to a subscriber's position can be sent via a SMS text message to prepaid mobile phone users using voice/SMS-capable handsets. In addition, basic fleet tracking for businesses enables vehicle and freight tracking at a Cell ID-level of accuracy.

More advanced location-based services for professionals and enterprises can leverage Location Express' high-accuracy, assisted GPS (A-GPS) functionality.

Security, Privacy, and Choice
 
Protecting subscriber privacy, ensuring trust, and providing choice are essential for the success of location services in any market.

Security: Operators can assure subscribers of their location security: all applications and subscribers are authenticated and authorized before any location service is provided.

Privacy: Subscribers control their own privacy by self-provisioning access privileges for applications requesting their position and using temporal filters for controlling the time when applications can obtain the mobile device location.

Choice: With Location Express' standard OpenLS and Mobile Locating Platform comes support for broad range of applications.

Location Express positions operators for success today with a lower-cost, feature-rich and fully integrated server and a standard GMLC and A-GPS SUPL Locating Platform (SLP) integrated in a single platform.

Optimized for performance with positioning method selection and failover from A-GPS to Cell/Sector ID location services, Location Express enables operator and subscriber confidence in the availability and delivery of location services in a wide variety of environments.

With Location Express, operators have a strong foundation and upgrade path to Location Manager Commercial Edition, thus providing a smooth technology and service evolution as growing markets mature.
