Openwave® Directory
Openwave® Directory provides the central storage solution for subscriber information. It is a key component of Openwave's digital identity vision to help operators offer highly segmented and customized mobile services.
Consolidated Storage
Operators that know their subscribers will keep their subscribers. The ability to continually offer the right services to the right user segments comes from having a central place to store, access and provision all the information related to subscribers.
Subscriber information on today's networks is often spread over multiple application data stores and provisioning databases. Recent studies show that low ARPU, slow uptake and poor retention of new applications could be the result of the fractured and partitioned method of storage.
Openwave Directory lets the operator map and transform data from multiple data stores into a single schema. Such a consolidated schema can be used to access and provision data via any protocol such as LDAP, SOAP and Parlay X.
Integrating multiple data stores simplifies and expedites integration, improves performance, increases control and reduces the time it takes to market new services-especially those brought to market through partners who need critical subscriber data in a standardized manner.
Over 200 Openwave® Mobile Access Gateway and Openwave® Email Mx customers have already deployed Openwave Directory and that number is only growing. Customers rely on the scalable Directory for their data services because roughly 80% of the data required to run existing applications are stored in this key network component.
Digital Identity
Openwave's digital identity plan is a three-phased approach to helping operators own the subscriber relationship:
Infrastructure:
Combining Openwave Directory with applications like AAA and Single Sign-On gives operators a control infrastructure over an accurate and consolidated subscriber database.
Applications:
Integrating network-based data applications, like presence- and location-based services, through the data abstraction server supports digital identity by allowing runtime access to multiple data storage entities. This ability allows true converged services beyond the carrier network boundaries.
Intelligence:
Digital identity depends on the collection of dynamic usage information for each subscriber. Voicemail, SMS, MMS and download usage patterns combined with the static personal information form the basis of recommendations that reach the subscriber in the form of messages, advertisements, product packaging and pricing to add value to both the subscriber's experience and the operator's revenue stream.
