  Openwave® Network Address Book

Openwave® Network Address Book is a multi-access address book that lets users access, manage and synchronize their contacts from virtually any physical location on any device.

The Network Address Book (NAB) is designed to meet the needs of operators and consumers in a converged marketplace. Overlapping technologies bring more opportunities for communication whether users are responding to email on their mobile phone, screening incoming calls from their TV set top box or sending photo messages to a buddy list.

Openwave Network Address Book synchronizes across multiple platforms, giving service providers the power to personalize and simplify their messaging services so subscribers can focus on communication rather than worry about back-up or compatibility issues.

Benefits to Users

The Openwave Network Address Book lives in a centralized location, on the network, making it accessible anytime, anywhere. Users can easily save contact information from one device to be used on another device. They can manage all their contact data across multiple platforms—web interface, internet-enabled phones, smart phones, PC email clients—thereby driving enhanced communication. Above all, NAB gives users an address book that automatically backs-up and synchronizes all changes.

More than just a master contact list, NAB can make available additional personal data about the user's contacts such as presence, location, and communication preferences. It also supports basic voice clients to provide voice-activated dialing.

Increased Revenue Opportunities

The Network Address Book is a true converged service enabler. It touches all other messaging services to improve user experience and boost usage. Simple icons that show a contact's current status and communication preferences not only enhance new services like push-to-talk and instant messaging, they reduce friction from incompatible technologies or even missed calls.

A single master contact list that eases use, increases enhanced communication and protects contact data with back-up and recovery services is something that subscribers have already shown a willingness to pay extra for. Service providers can expect increased ARPU with a Network Address Book service offering.

Reduced Subscriber Churn

Personalization is easy with the Network Address Book. Users can create customs fields as well as store ring-tones and photos/avatars for each of their contacts. Moreover, since all the data is stored in one location, the personalized user experience is integrated and consistent across all the devices. The address book has always been a "sticky" messaging service that drives subscriber usage. The enhanced user experience of the Openwave Network Address Book gives operators a powerful tool to drive communication and fight subscriber churn.

Fully Integrated and Branded

The Network Address Book can be adapted to the service provider's look and feel, using local specifics and languages. Openwave built NAB on its subscriber data management platform to allow easy integration, via standards-based APIs, with other service enablers such as presence, location, webmail, MMS and calendaring services. NAB can even connect with existing communities (e.g., Plaxo), making it easy to import valuable contact data into one safe storage area.
