Openwave and the IWF are combating online child abuse together
Openwave is a proud member of the Internet Watch Foundation, a UK-based internet hotline for the public to report criminally obscene content hosted anywhere in the world.
IWF was established in 1996 by the UK internet industry. It works in partnership with the wider online industry, law enforcement, government, education sector, charities, international partners and the public to minimize the availability of content within its remit.
Using an internet hotline reporting system, the IWF helps the online industry combat abuse of its services through a "notice and take-down" initiative that starts with anonymous tips to potentially illegal content within IWF's jurisdiction which is then forwarded to the police to investigate those responsible.

As security threats evolve, mobile operators must protect their networks and subscribers from unsavory and criminally abusive content. Openwave® Guardian has a content control service that features the Internet Watch Foundation blacklist. This blacklist ensures that all subscribers are protected from accessing illegal content. Guardian provides a comprehensive set of security options, which can help to fulfil the operator's specific security needs to protect their subscribers and their brand.
